Consultation and Ultrasound Evaluation

Our professional team of doctors, sonographers and clinical staff will provide you with an extensive vein care assessment and treatment options including a vein care health and wellness consultation, all in a comfortable and professional setting.

We use state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment to determine if you have venous insufficiency (reflux), a major source of leg problems.  This non-invasive imaging technique uses soundwaves to evaluate the function of the valves and the direction of flow in the veins of the leg.

There can be several adverse consequences of untreated varicose veins; and their severity will vary from person to person depending on the circumstances.  Many people who do not treat their varicose veins can experience continued symptoms of pain, fatigue and swelling of the legs or ankles.  More advanced medical problems may include hyperpigmentation (discoloration), venous leg ulcers, spontaneous bleeding, superficial thrombophlebitis (inflammation of the vein just below the surface of the skin), and a possible condition called deep vein thombosis (blood clots).

Our physicians will do a physical examination and history to evaluate the extent

and severity of your varicose veins or spider veins.  After the initial evaluation is completed, the physician will discuss treatment options with you.

Laser Ablation treatment                            Laser Ablation treatment

Endovenous laser ablation treatment is a minimally invasive, in-office therapy to treat varicose veins. The purpose of this procedure is to stop the blood flowing in the opposite direction than it should so that the dilated varicose vein no longer receives its abnormal blood supply.  Instead of removing the greater saphenous vein through surgical stripping, a small laser fiber is placed into the vein and the vein is sealed closed in place.  The skin on the inside of the knee is anesthetized and a laser fiber is inserted through a needle into the greater saphenous vein.  As the fiber is withdrawn, the laser is fired, causing the vein to close.  Following the procedure, a compression stocking is worn to help in the healing process.  Patients are able to walk immediately after the procedure and most individuals are able to return to work the next day.  Endovenous laser treatment is FDA approved.

Phlebectomy

Varicose veins can be painful and unsightly, but can be removed in our vein clinic with little discomfort. During the procedure, local anesthesia is used and small puncture areas made and the vein is removed. The areas heal within six to eight weeks and scarring is minimal or not even visible. Support hose is worn for two continuous days followed by another two weeks of wearing the hose during waking hours.

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is an in-office treatment for small (spider veins) and medium size (reticular) veins.  Sclerotherapy uses a tiny needle to inject a solution called a sclerosant into the veins, which closes those small unwanted vessels.  It may often take several session to eliminate spider veins entirely, but the procedure is relatively pain free and most normal activites can be resumed the same day. Depending on the size and location of the veins, different types and strengths of sclerosants are used.
